Any Sacramento Sign Language Interpreters interested in presenting?
Eaton Interpreting Services has been asked to spread the word for the CAL-ED 2010 50th Conference happening in Sacramento, CA. California Educators of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, CAL-ED, is the largest professional organization in the west with approximately 500 registered members. This organization is composed of educators, parents, teacher trainers, interpreters, support staff, professionals, and other persons who are dedicated to the pursuit of educational excellence for Deaf and hard of hearing children. The CAL-ED organization was established in 1960.
The objective of CAL-ED is to support quality education of students who are Deaf or hard of hearing by providing a network of support and information for teachers of students who are Deaf or hard of hearing. CAL-ED’s philosophy is to not endorse any one particular methodology or idea. Yearly conferences, alternating between Northern and Southern California, take place. Conferences draw speakers and session leaders not only from California, but from all over the United States. These people cover a wide spectrum of topics through which we can learn and grow. Topics include, but are not limited to, new methods, procedures, ideas, and technologies.
As their theme indicates, Deaf and Hard of Hearing students are supported by a village of providers including: parents, DHH teachers, general education teachers, educational interpreters, advocates, counselors, psychologists, friends, family, administrators, early intervention specialists, occupational therapists, curriculum specialists, researchers, audiologists, speech therapists, the student, and many more.
CAL-ED is looking for presenters. If you are interested in presenting at the March 12 – 14, 2010 conference, submit a proposal to http://cal-ed.org/conferences/it-takes-a-village/proposals/ no later than November 15, 2009. Receipt of electronic proposals will be confirmed within one week of submission. Proposal documents will be blind reviewed. Presenters will be notified of acceptance by December 15, 2009.
