Eaton Interpreting Services, Inc. (EIS) has the mission to provide the most qualified interpreters available to facilitate communication between deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind, and hearing individuals. These services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Interpreting is a complex process requiring training in linguistic, cognitive, and technical skills.  EIS subcontracts with certified, professional, and experienced interpreters to provide communication and interpreting needs in a broad range of settings with a diverse range of Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Deaf-Blind consumers.  We provide services to federal, state, city and county entities, private corporations, educational institutions, and health care providers.

We are a privately-owned, certified small business with the State of  California and have been serving the unique and individual needs of Sacramento and the surrounding communities of Northern California since 1994.

Interpreters are certified by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, The National Association of the Deaf, the new joint certification of both organizations, and the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA).  All certified interpreters adhere to a Code of Professional Conduct which ensures the provision of ethical and confidential services.

As per California State Department of Education Code (Section 45125.1), all contracted interpreters in the educational setting are fingerprinted through the California Department of Justice automated Live Scan service for criminal history background checks.  All contracted interpreters placed in this setting are also in compliance with the California State Department of Education Code (Section 3051.16) related to qualification/certification requirements.

In addition to the dedicated professionals who interpret for us, EIS is owned and managed by sign language interpreters with extensive experience. All of our schedulers are nationally certified interpreters that have been in the field for 15 to 25 years, which ensures that EIS provides Excellence In Service!
