Sarah Nett, Assistant Interpreter Coordinator

Sarah was born and raised in the Sacramento area. As a child, Sarah had frequent ear infections which led to some hearing loss. With concerns the hearing loss would continue, she and her mother began taking sign language classes together.  The love of American Sign Language drew her to the field. The ear infections eventually stopped, but she continued to learn. She began formal sign language classes as a teen and became intrigued in Deaf culture. Sarah worked for Hands On Services, Inc. (currently known as Purple) from 2005 to 2008 in their interpreter scheduling department. In 2008, Sarah took a break from work to stay home with her newborn son. As a new parent, Sarah continue to focus on her goal of becoming an interpreter by attending the Interpreter Preparation Program at American River College.  In 2009, Sarah graduated with her Associate of Arts degree and received a Certificate of Completion from the IPP.  She has passed the written portions of the NIC and EIPA exams and is moving closer towards her goal of becoming a certified interpreter. Sarah enjoys spending her time with her husband and two young sons.  She welcomed her newest addition to the family in September 2011.
