Jen Weiler, NIC, CI & CT

Jen Weiler hails to you from Seattle, WA. She was raised in Orangevale, and it was at Sierra College where she fell in love with ASL. This was mostly due to her witty and entertaining Deaf teacher, Pam Amundsen. From there, Jen transferred to CSUN where she graduated with her B.A. degree in Deaf studies in 2000. She started interpreting at a high school and at a junior college in the evenings, and later she settled at Department of Rehabilitation, where she was a support services–assistance interpreter (SSA-I). She came back to Sacramento in 2004 where she worked at DOR, and in the Video Relay Service (VRS) environment. But, it was the joy of freelancing that she liked the most and so that is what she does currently.

Along the Way, Jen became certified through the Registry of interpreters for the Deaf (RID) and she currently holds a Certificate of Interpretation (CI) and a Certificate of Transliteration (CT) as well as her NIC certificate. Jen served on the board for the Sacramento Valley Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (SaVRID) for three years total: two years as Vice President and one year as Member-at-Large.

Jen appreciates Kim Eaton for allowing her this opportunity to embark on a new aspect of interpreting: scheduling. This way she can stay connected to the community who she has shared so much with over the years. She brings with her a passion for the interpreting field, a commitment of high standards to the Deaf community, and a level of professionalism she hopes will translate through her work. She doesn’t take herself too seriously though and having fun in life is priority number ONE…her dog Lola knows that better than anybody!
